The Program Coordinator organizes and delivers all of YWITT’s consolidated programming including: after school programming, high school workshops, adult programming, partner programs and events. This is an exciting and dynamic position with opportunities for professional development and creative program development. You will also have options to work a flexible work week.

 

Wages: This is a full-time position (37.5 hours/week) at 25-27$/hour
Benefits: 2 weeks of vacation per year + Contribution to self-directed benefits per year

Desired Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (Assessed through Resume/Cover Letter and Interview process):

  • Experience working with youth aged 12 to 30

  • Experience delivering programming that is experiential or hands on.

  • Ability to think and solve problems at a systems level

  • Experience working with, managing and fostering collaboration among several project stakeholders

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively and diplomatically

  • Excellent time management and ability to manage multiple priorities in a context of change and ambiguity and an ability to adapt to these changing needs

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Familiarity with Yukon First Nations and Northern Indigenous peoples

  • Strong collaborative leadership and conflict resolution skills

  • Understanding of anti-oppressive practice and social justice principles

  • Experience in trades programming and/or tool use an asset

 

Roles and Responsibilities

 

  • Hiring instructors on a contractual basis

  • Designing and developing suitable programming

  • Develop and nurture relationships with Yukon tradeswomen and women in technology

  • Support Yukon tradeswomen and women in technology within the current resources of the organization

  • Develop and nurture relationships with and between critical community partners such as with service providers, business partners, First Nations partners, municipal and territorial partners

  • Booking programming spaces and purchasing and transporting supplies

  • Facilitating overall program, groups, and risk management during workshops and events

  • Managing YWITT’s inventory of tools and program supplies

  • Conducting programming evaluations and writing programming reports

  • Promoting, marketing and event management

 

Provide Board support

  • With management staff, assist with the timely distribution of materials to the board

  • Support the Board with meetings, travel, and other arrangements

  • Monthly attendance and minutes at board meetings at AGM

  • Other duties may be assigned as necessary

 

Administrative Support

  • Work with budget and cash flow in regard to programs

  • General record retention

  • Reply to information requests with referrals, and accurate information,

  • Data entry and upkeep of the organization’s databases, ensuring a high level of accuracy

  • Provide administration support to management and other staff including: responding to public inquiries and maintaining office equipment etc.

  • Research, edit and circulate YWITT news on a variety of platforms

  • Content management for the YWITT web page

 

Working Conditions

The Program Coordinator reports to and is supervised by the Executive Director.

This position is located in an open office environment and may involve travel to communities throughout Yukon. Additionally, this position must work collaboratively with many community partners including other programming organizations (Skills Canada Yukon, City of Whitehorse, BYTE) and institutions (Yukon University, Yukon Education, Apprenticeship Yukon).

Due to the nature of the role, the position should expect to work some weekends and overtime hours with a positive and willing attitude.
