Training and Engagement Coordinator


The Training and Engagement Coordinator is an exciting new role with YWITT.

50% of this position is the organizational lead on developing training opportunities for community members. The TEC will work in collaboration with the Executive Director and the Research Lead on this project to support participants, facilitate discussions, deliver info sessions and workshops as well as support leadership training.

50% of this position will involve ongoing community support to tradespeople and people in tech in the form of individualized case management through referral to services, career advice, connection to mentors, training and potential employers.

Wages: This is a full-time position (37.5 hours/week) at $26-28/hour
Benefits: 3 weeks of vacation per year + Contribution to self-directed benefits per year

Desired Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (Assessed through Resume/Cover Letter and Interview process):

  • Demonstrate and communicate with a high level of understanding around inclusion and anti-oppressive practices

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively and diplomatically

  • Conflict resolution skills and the ability to lead and manage challenging conversations

  • Ability to think and solve problems at a systems level

  • Experience working with, managing and fostering collaboration in community

  • Excellent time management and ability to manage multiple priorities in a context of change and ambiguity and an ability to adapt to these changing needs

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Experience or training in a trauma-informed approach is an asset

  • Familiarity with Yukon First Nations and Northern Indigenous peoples

  • Experience in Community Driven Research, and/or Qualitative Research approaches and methodologies an asset

  • Experience in trades programming or tech an asset

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Attend and facilitate group conversations and discussion during regular meetups

  • Develop and nurture relationships with community members

  • Support the Programming Coordinator in organizing and delivering public awareness programming to adult women

  • Respond to requests from educational and employer partners for inclusion resources for staff, engage in training and workshops with the goal of becoming a facilitator and integrating these into policies and new programs for YWITT

  • Design and support training and development of trades and technology skill building programs with an intersectional feminist lens

  • Develop and nurture relationships with and between critical community partners such as with service providers, business partners, First Nations partners, municipal and territorial partners with the support of the Research Lead

  • Booking programming spaces and purchasing and transporting supplies

  • Conducting debriefs, evaluations and writing reports

  • Event management

  • Other duties may be assigned as necessary


Administrative Support

Administrative and organizational support may include:

  • Working with a budget and cash flow

  • General record retention and documentation 

  • Writing, editing and preparing reports

  • Reply to information requests with referrals, and accurate information,

  • Provide administration support to management and other staff including: responding to public inquiries and maintaining office equipment etc.

  • Relevant content management for the YWITT web page


Working Conditions

The Training and Engagement Coordinator reports to and is supervised by the Executive Director.

This position is located in an open office environment and may involve travel to communities throughout Yukon. Additionally, this position must work collaboratively with many community partners including other programming organizations (Skills Canada Yukon, City of Whitehorse, BYTE) and institutions (Yukon University, Yukon Education, Apprenticeship Yukon).

Due to the nature of the role, the position should expect to work flexible hours with a positive and willing attitude.
