STORIES FROM

Transgender Tradespeople

IN THE YUKON

About the campaign:

This campaign grew from something we kept hearing: Two-Spirit, transgender, and gender-diverse tradespeople need spaces to connect, share, and find community in industries that can often feel isolating.

We issued a call to hear directly from Two-Spirit, transgender and gender-diverse tradespeople across the Yukon in order to highlight their perspectives and experiences. Their stories illustrate some of the unique challenges they face, capture significant insights, and provide supportive ways of working that make the trades better for everyone.

The following is a collection of statements and experiences from the transgender folks who took part in this campaign. YWITT is grateful to share these stories with the broader community—so more people can begin to understand the complex nature of working in a trade while honouring one's unique identity.
